- Gather survey results as a class to see what the most popular responses are.
- This year, according to our survey, citizens should
- Obey the law

- Pay taxes
- Respect others (despite differences)
- Help the community
- Take care of the environment
- Work
- Be patriotic
- Title page 121 "Citizens Should..." and write down the list we created in class. If absent, you ca use the one above.
- Go back to page 120.
- As a class, add responsibilities that go along with each right.
- Think of this: If your parents get you a puppy, there are some responsibilities that go along with it: feeding it, taking it on walks, cleaning up after it.
- Likewise, if your Bill of Rights gives you some rights, there are responsibilities that go along with each one. You have the right to freedom of religion, so you have the responsibility to treat people with respect even if they follow a different religion. You have the right to a fair trial, so you have the responsibility to do jury duty so that other people can have their fair trial. Finish the rest of the chart on your own.
